PLEASE HELP US BY DONATING GO FUND ME

Please help The Flash radio station raise £4000.00 so we can launch an FM community radio service for the Waterlooville area!

The Waterlooville area is growing all the time and we strongly feel that it deserves to have its own station on FM. Ofcom have already awarded us with the FM licence, but as a small group we would really appreciate help so we can purchase the tools to do the job.

Every penny raised will go towards the purchase and installation of the transmission equipment required before we can launch on FM.

The Flash is a local not for profit radio station which has been serving the South Hampshire area as an internet station since 2012, and became available on DAB (Digital Radio)  to the Portsmouth area in August 2015. We are a dedicated team of volunteers who are focussed on promoting the talents of bands, musicians and singer/songwriters in the local area, and the importance of the local music scene in our communities. There are many independent volunteers and charities who achieve so much in our local area and The Flash will also continue to promote all that is positive within the area that we serve.

While the internet and DAB are great platforms with increasing listenership, many radio listeners still find FM the most accessible, and we have the experience and dedication to be able to make a difference on FM in the Waterlooville area.

PLEASE GIVE US A HELPING HAND BY GIVING A DONATION TODAY!.

Thank you for taking the time to read this and please check out our website at  www.theflashonair.co.uk . You can hear us in the Portsmouth and Waterlooville area’s on DAB radio, and via Tunein.

SUNDAY EVENING JUKEBOX PARTY!
I have had some fantastic guests join me on my Sunday show, and I wish I had remembered to take photo's from each of these occasions. It was fantastic to have Ben Dlugokecki and Lottie Anne Cuthbert in the studio yesterday evening to chat and perform for us live in the studio. Here are some pics from the occasion and thank you Paul Burton, and Lottie for supplying most of these.

PARK COMMUNITY SCHOOL MUNCH This Christmas Day

MUNCH  Click the Link for the Video
Stuart Holmes in the studio telling us all about Park community school MUNCH . Find out all about the Christmas Day lunch at the school by visiting their website.

As a school we were aware of the food poverty that some of our community experience and were concerned our students were going hungry. This was reinforced when our local community told us how the food bank was consistently running out of food. We set up a community group to tackle food poverty in our area and in April 2017 MUNCH was born.
We successfully contacted external agencies for funding and MUNCH is now in operation supplying nutritious 2 course meals and activities for children and their families attending any Leigh Park school during the school holidays. Play equipment is provided, along with learning practitioners, who help our guests learn via play encouraging learning of vital maths and English skills. Our school nurse is also on hand, on a drop in basis for any concerns parents may have.

Our vision for MUNCH is to develop a sustainable local social enterprise by establishing a community food shop and café. This will provide volunteering and employment opportunities, as well as a casual meeting and eating venue to reduce social isolation – watch this space for more details.
We work in partnership with organisations who have excess food which otherwise would go into landfill . This helps to fill our MUNCH fridge in the Dickinson Centre. This is always fully stocked with emergency food for local families who are most in need.
We have expanded MUNCH to both Thursday nights and Sunday lunches. 2 course Sunday lunches start monthly from Sunday 25th March and Thursday nights meals start weekly from Thursday March 29th.

Listener in the Studio Ian Dunkley

THE JUKEBOX PARTY CONTINUES AS THE FLASH GOES OFF AIR!
Last night I had the pleasure of being joined by a long time Flash listener, after he e-mailed me about reception problems in Old Portsmouth. Ian Dunkley was probably surprised when I replied by inviting him to join me on air to share his 8 most favourite rock tracks. He had so much fun that he is now keen to join The Flash team as a presenter.
Unfortunately we were hit with technical problems just 10 minutes after the show started and went off air on both DAB and internet stream, however our intrepid engineer Richard Setford did manage to get us back on air for the final 25 minutes of the programme.
I am pleased to say that the studio party continued in spite of these problems, and the full show will be broadcast this coming Friday evening at 6.00pm. I sometimes forget to take studio photo's of my guests but simply could not let Ian leave before I snatched an image of his very impressive shirt. Thanks Ian and we look forward to hearing more from you in the future, and probably with music almost as loud as his shirt!.

INTRODUCING A NEW VOICE FOR THE FLASH & A WEBSITE WIZZARD!.
We can thank Jill Stembridge (who is a great ambassador to The Flash and always on a recruitment drive for new voices and local artists to plug) for putting this young gentleman in touch with us. His name is Paul Burton and his first show will be broadcast next Tuesday 13th November at 10.00pm, and be repeated on Sunday 18th November at midday.
He has a very good ear for Real Music and a Bob Harris style delivery. We must also thank him for donating his time and talents towards creating a brand new website for us, and one that will be more compatible with mobile devices. Welcome to The Flash team Paul!.
